TRANSDERMAL MAGNESIUM

"My heart restored, my waters cleansed, the power surges in love to mend..."

AM I GETTING ENOUGH MAGNESIUM?

NOT ENOUGH IN FOOD... Magnesium is in short supply in the soils of countries that are using NPK fertiliser chemical farming methods.  Australia however tops the list in the world when it comes to magnesium deficient soils.  If there's not enough magnesium in the soil, there's not enough in the plants that are grown in it.  Processing methods can further deplete magnesium in foods.

STRESS CAUSES MAGNESIUM LOSS... Stress depletes magnesium, as tissue cells release magnesium into the bloodstream in response to adrenaline in the blood in a perceived 'flight or fight' situation. Stress can be psychological, physical, chemical, pharmacological, induced by extreme temperatures, excessive noise, or staying awake too long. Prolonged or chronic stress without replenishment of magnesium stores will result in magnesium deficit.  More info...

HEALTH CRISIS!  MAGNESIUM DEFICIT UNDERPINS THE RAPID RISE IN DEGENERATIVE DISEASES AND IMMUNE SYSTEM DISORDERS

CHAIN REACTION CAUSED BY LOW MAGNESIUM: "If the level of magnesium within the cell becomes too low there are three dire results:

1. There is not enough ATO available for the cell's necessary energy reaction and to maintain the 'enzymatic pump' that moves potassium into and sodium out of the cells.

2. Potassium leaves the cell and cannot reenter, and there is a temporary increase in the plasma potassium level, which creates a risk of arrhythmia.

3. Calcium rushes into the cell, where it does not belong, and creates its excitatory and hardening havoc.

CALCIUM REGULATION, HEART HEALTH AND ANTI-AGING EFFECT... Magnesium is an essential mineral electrolyte and fundamental co-factor to other nutrients (such as calcium). It is vital to our energy, metabolic processes, bone health, immune system and heart health. It is magnesium that pairs with calcium to take it into the bones.  Without sufficient magnesium the excess calcium is deposited in the soft tissue and joints where it 'calcifies' or hardens cells - a sign of premature ageing. Too much calcium can increase the risk of kidney stones, cataracts, arteriosclerosis, arthritis and joint problems.

Magnesium is essential to regulate and balance the sodium-potassium-calcium pump of the heart cells.  Low magnesium compromises the integrity of the cell wall causing lesions. Cholesterol starts to deposit, blood cells aggregate causing thrombi... Read more

PREGNANCY, FERTILITY, SIDS & CEREBRAL PALSY...
When pregnant, magnesium helps build and repair body tissue in both mother and fetus.  A severe deficiency during pregnancy may lead to pre-eclampsia, birth defects and infant mortality.  Magnesium relaxes muscles and research suggests proper levels of magnesium during pregnancy can help keep the uterus from contracting until week thirty-five.  Dropping magnesium levels at this point may start labor contractions.... read more.

WHEN EXERCISE IS BAD FOR YOU... If the body’s cells are low in magnesium stress, such as exercise, can be dangerous because it causes the release of adrenaline and a sudden shift in magnesium from the cells to the blood, further lowering magnesium in cells to dangerously inadequate levels.  The heart is particularly vulnerable to exercise stress-induced magnesium loss because the magnesium in heart cells is rapidly exchangeable... read more.

AUTISM & MAGNESIUM... TOXIC CHEMICALS, HEAVY METALS AND THE BRAIN ... Magnesium also helps to buffer the body from the adverse effects of toxins.  When the body has sufficient magnesium available it can eliminate waste products, heavy metals and other toxins more efficiently.

FLUORIDATED WATER ROBS YOUR MAGNESIUM Magnesium is a great buffer against chemicals and toxins in the environment and it is an antagonist to fluoride. If magnesium is in short supply the fluoride will bind with the small amount of magnesium there is and cause it to be excreted in the urine. Fluoride competes to occupy sites in the bones that the magnesium should be occupying. It is therefore vital to make sure your body has ample supply of magnesium to counteract the toxic effects of fluoride and other toxins that may inadvertently be ingested from food, water or pharmaceuticals. (Note: Professor Paul Connett advises drinking filtered water and beverages without fluoride (www.fluoridealert.org)  Fluoride inhibits enzyme activity, whereas magnesium supports enzyme activity. WHAT IS TRANSDERMAL MAGNESIUM THERAPY?

Magnesium chloride absorbed transdermally (through the skin) is gentle and effective. It doesn't irritate the bowel as does oral ingestion. Digestion and absorption of magnesium tablets is more difficult because the magnesium compound first has to be broken down by hydrochloric acid in the stomach, and as we get older we make less and less stomach acid. Then the magnesium needs to be absorbed through the bowel wall - another common obstacle.  Magnesium oxide has been found to be only 4% bio-available, whilst the best oral magnesium compounds are still not more than 40% bio-available according to Dr Mark Sircus. Transdermal absorption of magnesium chloride is much more efficient than digestion and absorption of tablets via the GI tract. You can mix magnesium chloride salt flakes with water and spray on, massage in or soak in a hot foot bath or full bath.  Another way to absorb magnesium is via our luxurious moisturizer - Elektra Magnesium Cream (see below).  It is important to apply magnesium transdermally every day, because like food, you can't absorb a whole week's worth all on one day.  The body will only absorb what it needs at the time and when it reaches saturation, stops absorbing any more. The body will take enough to supply the day's needs and some extra for magnesium reserve top-up. Those that have been magnesium deficient for a long time may find it takes months or even years to fully replenish their magnesium reserve. However, calming effects to the central nervous system and muscles are the earliest effects felt from the first few days' application.

PURE and NATURAL MAGNESIUM SEA SALTS:
Elektra Magnesium mineral salt (magnesium chloride hexahydrate mgCl2.6h20) is naturally evaporated from sea water which comes from a remote lake 3,200m above sea level in the Tibetan Plateau. Independent laboratory testing has found no mercury and no lead. This natural magnesium sea salt has had the sodium removed, but still contains the natural sea trace minerals of natural sea water. In Japan this salt is called Nigari and is use by food manufacturers to make tofu.

HOW TO USE FLAKES - SUGGESTED CONCENTRATIONS TO MAKE:

• Bath
(minimum 1 cup per average bath half filled with tolerably hot water)

• Foot Soak
(minimum one heaped tablespoon per half bucket tolerably hot water)

• Body Spray
(minimum one heaped teaspoon per 250ml)

• Mouthwash (minimum one heaped teaspoon per 250ml)

• Compress for Sprains and Swelling (soak bandage in solution)

• Magnesium Oil - 50% medium strength = 50g flakes/100ml water. For massage adjust solution to skin sensitivity.  Magnesium oil isn't a real oil, but has an 'oily' or slippery texture when magnesium chloride flakes are dissolved in water in high concentration (35-70%).  You can also combine with another massage carrier oil on the body prior to massage.  If you try to premix, then the oil-water emulsion will break up.

Notes: Use pure water to dissolve Elektra Magnesium for mouthwash, body spray and compress. If your bath water is fluoridated and unfiltered then add a little extra magnesium salts. For therapeutic use, higher concentrations may be required. Please refer to your health practitioner.

Caution: Avoid direct contact with eyes and sensitive areas when undiluted.  If you experience slight stinging sensation, simply dilute further with water.

~ Walter Last (biochemist, toxicologist, nutritionist, natural therapist and author)

"Magnesium is nothing short of a miracle mineral in its healing effect on a wide range of diseases, as well as in its ability to rejuvenate the ageing body. We know that it is essential for many enzyme reactions, especially in regard to cellular energy production, for the health of the brain and nervous system and also for healthy teeth and bones. However, it may come as a surprise that in the form of magnesium chloride it is also an impressive infection fighter."
